The German Learning Opportunities Website www.LearnGerman.US recognize one hundred thirty-three students and teachers from forty-one states and Europe. Their schools include public, private, and German Saturday Schools. The GLOW Award includes a customized gift card for Borders/Walden Books and a year's subscription to both the winners and their teachers to German World Magazine www.german-world.com. The GLOWawards are funded by tax-deductible donations to the GLOW Fund/AATG. GLOW thanks especially Eric Braeden, noted German American TV star ("The Young and the Restless"), the Center for German Programs Abroad (ZfA), and Helene Zimmer-Loew and her staff.
GLOW is an interactive data base/on-line search directory of over 7000 entries documenting all kinds of German programs at all levels, tutors, translators, and job seekers. The purpose of the data base is to advertise German programs to prospective students, tutor/translators to prospective clients, and job seekers to schools near them geographically. It is also a tool for chapters to contact new prospective members. Finally, GLOW is a volunteer project and is free to all users.
Beginning in fall 2008 GLOWbulletins, executive summaries of messages from all of the organizations important to our profession. will be sent out two or three times a year.
